Thanks to a good friend who got me back to listening to the FM radio, nary a weekday passes without me tuning my cellphone radio to RX 93.1. Every morning while I wait in line at the FX terminal to Ayala, listening to RX, particularly The Morning Rush with Chico and Delamar, made the wait bearable.

I’ve also participated in some of their Top Ten topics, although the elusive top spot remains elusive to date. I think one of my entries made it to the top…of the bottom half. Hehehe. Nevertheless, I still make it a point to text a greeting or request a song once in a while.

Anyway, I recently joined one of their text contests. Like the idiot that I was, I put my headset down after texting my entry, which was why I was surprised to receive a text message from a friend, congratulating me after hearing my winning entry on air. I had to send a message to RX, asking if I really did win. It was only then did I had that stupid grin on my face the entire day.

The major problem to this otherwise perfect scenario was that I had to claim the prize (a Goldilocks cake GC) at the RX station during office hours. I really didn’t have any choice at the matter anyway, so I went to work early, dropped my stuff in my cube and traveled back to Ortigas, armed with my sister’s camera.

On the way to the station, I was already thinking on what to say to Chico and Delamar. I’ve been an outright fan, but the thought of actually meeting them in the flesh made me want to bolt and scream. I’m sure my sister will laugh over my insane obsessions, but really. These guys are celebs! And I didn’t really have anything to give to them, so I made a mad rush to Figaro to get them a mini chocolate cake.

While I was (finally) on the elevator, I was shaking all over (it’s insane, I tell you). I met the nice receptionist, who got me my GCs, and then I waited at the lobby for a few minutes before getting the go signal to go over the booth where Chix and Delle were.

Right before that, I fished out my camera and took a ninja pic at the RX signage with all the Golden Dove Award trophies. By ninja, I meant I didn’t want anyone seeing me taking pictures of the place…they might think I’m some psycho.

When I was ushered to the booth, shit, I nearly had to control the urge to really bolt. But I found myself opening the door…and there they were! Delle was on the phone (she gave me a quick smile and wave) and Chico was at the PC sorting out the top ten text entries and greets.

Needless to say, I was more than star struck. I was amazed…flabbergasted…floored…I was over the top! When I heard them talk…oh man…they had the most gorgeous voices, specially Delle who had a very young voice. Hehehe.

Suffice to say, my imagination of what the station booth would look like was way different from what I saw. This was officially my second time in a radio station (93.9 DWKC was the first), and it still felt surreal when I saw these people who I only hear on my cellphone. They were really nice (well, Delle most especially…she engaged me in small talk and all. Chico must’ve been busy with the top then or wut). I also manage to hear Delle’s convo with a caller who wanted to join a female-only contest (methinks it was a guy), so yeah, I guess idiots come in all forms and means.

I really didn’t stick around. After they finished their show, I handed them the cake, took a few pics with them and made a mad dash out of the building (in case someone will come look for me ya know).

All in all, it was a good experience. I had my cake GC, my souvenir pic (a.k.a. proof that I was relly there!), and the reassurance that I won’t be hearing my name mispronounced on air!

All’s good.
